Outfit Of The Yesterday: Valentine’s Day Date Night Look #2: Oasis Cleanline Leather Blazer (+ A Happy Yellow Skirt, Too)

♫: The Dandy Warhols’ TV Theme Song Dandy Warhols

I was intrigued when I saw the ASOS Pencil Skirt in Rose Jacquard pop up over on ASOS a few weeks ago. Its happy yellow color is perfect for spring, but the longer cut and slightly triangular shape of the skirt is fairly different from anything else that I currently have in my closet.

I took the risk, though, and I was pleasantly surprised when the skirt arrived.  A slit up the middle keeps it from looking dowdy, and the higher rise & waist makes it fairly elongating in spite of my vertically-challenged stature.  It does lose a few points for not having pockets (I’m so used to having pockets on the dresses and skirts that I wear that when I don’t, I just sit and creepishly awkwardly jam my hands into my hips over and over again out of bad habit like a spaz), and also for the fabric being a little on the thin side (Spanx helps smooths lumps & bumps). But all in all it’s a keeper, and I hope they produce similar skirts in other prints and patterns,, too.

I decided to keep my outfit a bit more casual, and so I topped it off with the Oasis Cleanline Leather Blazer. I only have a few leather coats, and all are in black–so I had been digging around for a cognac-hued coat to wear during the late-winter/early-spring months. This jacket has pleats down the front, including some pleats layered around the zipper and bust, which helps give the jacket a more fitted & feminine shape. The sleeves are a little long, which is something that I’m unfortunately used to with most tops, but the jacket is nicely lined and so cuffing the sleeves up provides a simple and easy fix. Love!
