Outfit Of The Yesterday: Pep-Pep-Peplums + Flippy Skirts

♫:  Escapee – Architecture in Helsinki

I had been on the hunt for a good flippy/frilly/drop-waist skirt for awhile now–ever since spying them on Stella McCartney’s F/W 2012 runway. They are fun and different shape to play with, and flattering for a fairly wide variety of body types too–mini skirt lovers get the tightness on top while a-line skirt lovers get the ruffle on the bottom.  Hi-five.

So I was happy when this one finally popped up on Zara about a week ago. It’s a really cute skirt in person–the fabric is thick enough to hide lumps and bumps, and the colorblocking helps to draw attention away from “problem” areas (like the hips). It does run small, though, and I had to size up one size.

Hope you guys have a great weekend, and I’ll catch you guys on the flip side. ;)

  • Hi, I recently discovered your blog and am loving it! You look great and I’ve been admiring your z spoke satchels and would like to get one for myself. From your experience, do you prefer the half flap or the full flap satchel? I was wondering if the full flap might make it hard to open the bag or look for things.

  • Oh you are Rocking two pieces I’ve had my eyes on buy don’t think I am pull off – that peplum belt and the flippy skirt.

  • You never you fail to amaze me…this is stunning!

  • I love the dramatic eyeliner! ;-)

This is amazing! I love the skirt and the way you styled it. I would buy from Zara online all the time if it were not for the fact that their sizing is so inconsistent. It’s really annoying!

  • The color blocking on that skirt is crazy cool! Or if you’re a TLC fan, it could even be crazy sexy cool.

  • I popped into Zara yesterday and saw that skirt in person. I just love it but sadly it is too short for me. It looks great on you!

    • Thanks so much, Lissy! (And jealous you have a Zara brick & mortar nearby – I keep hoping Denver will get one…someday, someday?)

  • Caroline L.

    Fun title and fun outfit!

  • That belt is so amazing! And I love the flippy skirt, but am wondering about the length for us tall girls? Might just have to order it and give it a try :)

    • Hi Kim! It’s pretty short- if you do try it, I’d try to size up an extra size or two to get some extra length that way. It might work!
