Outfit Of The Yesterday: Geometric Prints + The Emerson Fry A-Line Mod Top (& The Formula To My Favorite Summer Outfits)

 Long time no outfit update! Truthfully, I’ve been battling a never-ending-cruddy-cold for the past three weeks now, so my outfits haven’t exactly been very exciting. It’s hard to find things that match the chapped ruddyness of a majorly Kleenex-burned nose, you know? (Sweatpants. Sweatpants match it.) (Sweaaaaaatpants!)

But now that the weather is finally warming up, I have been happy to break out the shorts and sandals I’ve had tucked away over the past 6 months. One of my favorite things to wear during warmer weather is a combo of what I am wearing below–a pretty top or tunic, a cozy cardigan, and shorts underneath. It’s easy and it’s comfortable (as long as the cardigan is lightweight), and while I will always have an affinity for shorter shorts, the cardigan keeps my upper half nicely covered. I firmly believe in only showing off one body part at a time, and because of Lupus my skin can’t exposed to a lot of sun anyway because sometimes my life is barrels of chuckles and fun.

{three years ago & still one of my favorite outfits}

Aside from that–have I ever mentioned how much I love Emerson Fry? I really love Emerson Fry. In a retail climate that has left a lot of brands going cheaper and cheaper with materials, Emerson Fry consistently churns out the most well-made stuff that I own. The A-Line Mod Top is no exception. It actually reminds me of this chair that is temporarily sitting in our office:

My parents purchased it at Montgomery Ward before I was born, and I’ve heard many tales over the years of my mom getting stuck in it while pregnant with us twins. It’s hideously ugly (yet totally comfortable and awesome), it’s my favorite chair to curl up in to read a good book, and to reupholster it would be to ruin its soft, velvety-velour-and-super-flammable-like magic. Obviously.
