Outfit Of The Yesterday: Moto Jacket + Anthropologie’s Amalia Tulle Skirt

♫: passin’ me by – the pharcyde

Anthropologie has recently started doing “pre-orders” on select items; the Amalia Tulle skirt that I am wearing below being one such item. It actually came into stock earlier than expected, but I was pretty surprised when I opened the package to find the poofiest of all poofy skirts alive.

It looks so sweet and well-mannered on the website, after all:

But in real life, the skirt fits more like this:

And I must admit, I was slightly horrified when I first put it on because it was so unexpectedly…big. The layers of tulle on this thing are endless. Endless! This skirt has a poof-factor that goes above and beyond what the Minaj-i-Gaga scale can even register. The Minaj-i-Gaga scale is like the Richter scale, only for overly-dramatic and out-of-control poofy skirts that I totally didn’t just make-up right now as I am typing this out.

So anyway, the skirt is poofy. But I kind of like it! Actually, I really like it. It reminds me just enough of the mid-length, oversized floral skirts from Dior S/S2013:

And like most women, I will always secretly be a sucker for overly-voluminous, poofy skirts.  This skirt runs pretty true to size if not a little large–but consider purchasing it in your normal size if you will be tucking bulky sweaters into it this winter.

(I snapped these pics last week during a day of thick smoke and thunderstorms, so I apologize that they turned out a little dark and contrasty. I tried to get the color of the skirt as true as possible in my edits–swish, swish.)

  • You look phenomenal in this- the jacket is just the right touch! And I love your idea of a minaj-i-gaga scale. Can that be cross-referenced for blasts of colour?

  • Whoa! That is a TOTALLY different skirt than Anthro is showing on their website. I want to be a fly on the wall at the home of every person that opens that box expecting a sweet little skirt and ends up de-boxing that bad boy. Heh heh. But I’m diggin’ it on you! The colors are really great too because they can work for both spring and fall.

Beautiful skirt! You pull it off well. Not many people can wear such a voluminous skirt without looking child-like. Love the haircut, too!

      *Skirt, ha!

  • The skirt is super cute, Chloe….if it were a few inches shorter, it would look like a Euro-style ballet tutu! ;-)

  • Stylish Housewife

SO many things to say here. One…I LOVE your hair short like this. TWO…um yeah…nothing like the picture. THREE…only you can pull this off and look AMAZING. I would LOVE love LOVE to twirl around in that skirt for days though. =)

  • your hair looks great! i like this skirt so much better than the white tulle skirts everyone seems to be wearing on the internet. this one could definitely be worn in fall too

  • Your hair looks awesome! And how fun is that skirt!

  • I kind of love it! It’s totally girly and I love how you style it with that moto jacket.

I love your hair – it looks so great on you!! I have to admit I laughed when I saw the difference from the website picture and then how it looks on you, but I really like it too. It’s very dramatic & reminds me of something you see around the tents during Fashion Week! :)
