Outfit Of The Yesterday: Valentine’s Day + The J Crew Crystal Foliage Necklace

♫: Copper Bells – Letts

Just a quick little Valentine’s Day date night outfit. We celebrated a day early (Friday night!) while the weather was still nice & toasty warm, so bare legs and flats were worn all the way. I use to think that themed dressing on a holiday was a little cheesy (pink and red on Valentine’s Day, how original) but I had a near & dear co-worker that was the queen of themed dressing. Every holiday she would give it her all–endless Christmas vests and sweaters, a necklace made of clothes-pin ghosts for Halloween, and (of course!) pink and red for Valentine’s Day. She passed away two years ago this past January and I think of her often this time of year, so this is my little ode to her.

With a little swingy mustard-hued jacket thrown in for good measure, of course. And the J Crew Crystal Foliage Necklace too (which is currently 20% off)–I’ve always been a sucker for J Crew jewelry and this colorful necklace receives lots of compliments every time I wear it:

  • Hi there! I’ve been following your blog since the longest time. Absolutely love all your posts and pictures. They’re always so interesting! Thanks for this lovely post <3

The colors in this are perfect. The mustard yellow with the pink is a match made in heaven. Your friend left you memories so that you would smile while thinking of her, and always recall the good times <3

So sorry about the loss of your friend/co-worker…

But on a lighter note, I love this combo! That mustard jacket looks great with the peach blouse and white skirt. I also NEED that bag! I didn’t wear pink or red for VDay either, although I am a past offender. I actually really love pink and red together, but feel funny wearing it any time of year because it reminds me of Valentine’s day. Go figure.

  • Ya know, you can truly wear mustard color like nobody’s business – what a great color on you! And then the pop of pink, brilliant. LOVING it that you’re posting outfits lately. I remember your older post about your dear fashionable friend who passed, it was a lovely post and she sounded wonderful.

  • Gorgeous as always….I love this color combination!
