Outfit Of The Yesterday: Black & Gold (& J. Brand Flares)
Flares are making a comeback this fall, and oof! After spending nearly a decade in skinnies, they’re a little hard to get used to–all the excess fabric turns walking into a bit of an exercise of dedication and determination. Swish, swish, swish, swish, swish.
But flares are also one of my favorite styles because they’re so flattering–especially to petites. I am wearing an old pair of J Brand Lovestory flares below that I’ve had in my closet now for a few years–I had originally purchased them when flares made a half-hearted comeback a few years back. The Lovestory flare is one of my favorite cuts (and still available!), but let me say this–I’m actually wearing what J Brand considers to be a petite inseam below. With four inch heels. And they still need hemming! I used to wear them with five inch heels, which is why I’ve never had them tailored, but since I now rarely go over 3 inches in heels I definitely need to get an inch or two lobbed off.
