Outfit Of The Yesterday: Goin’ For The Gold
♫: Weekend in the Dust – St. Vincent and David Byrne
A good, little black dress is a necessary staple for any wardrobe, and while I typically tend to shy away from the color black I had been on the lookout for a good black dress that was short enough for my 5’2″ height (but not too short or race-y), versatile (it can work in a medley of situations), and arm-covering (only show off one body part at a time or risk disqualification!).
I think this dress from Urban Renewal hits all the marks perfectly. It’s made of a thicker cotton, which means it can be casual, but it has slight puffs at the shoulders to keep it from looking amateur. A cut-out at the back gives it an extra kick (and it’s high enough that you can easily wear a strapless bra!), and the elasticized waist means this dress earns extra points for being flattering on almost all forms. It also clocks in at a touch under $50–not bad!
I think we finally have a winner, hooray:
