Outfit Of The Yesterday: J.Crew Tilda Oxford Rhinestone Top + A Peplum, Too
♫:Bedouin Dress – Fleet Foxes
Peplums: either you love them, or you hate them. The problem with peplums is that they can be tricky to wear. Some fall up high, some fall down low; some poof out like little tutus, and others struggle to…uh…help Kim Kardashian incubate her little baby by mimicking a dusty and cob-webbed (and so ugly you only keep it in a closed-off guest bedroom) curtain valance painfully wrapped around her hips? No one wants their peplum to look like a Curtain Valance of Shame. Uff da, girl.
I digress. I grabbed the Draped Peplum Tee from Anthropologie a little while ago and had been waiting for a good time to wear it. It’s kind of a weird little top–gigantic and swingy; but the material it is made out of is really soft and stretchy. The longer length of the top doesn’t work well (for me) for pairing it with jeans and pants, but I really like how it looks with skirts and shorts.
And voila! We finally a day warm enough to wear it. This was a quick outfit I threw on for Friday night and in my haste I belted it, but after looking at pictures of it unbelted I might skip it next time. I’ve definitely been craving things that are a little less fussy as of late:
