Outfit Of The Yesterday: Kirna Zabête for Target Tweed & Faux-Leather Zip-Front Dress
♫: Strict Machine – Goldfrapp
Leather & faux leather trimmings are popping up all over the place this fall, and it’s a trend that I definitely have been enjoying. It is an easy way to give something a bit of an edgy-yet-still-chic kick, and it is also a great option for anyone that can’t quite commit to unleashing the inner biker dude buried deep inside of all of us…by wearing lots (and lots) of leather.
It seems like I usually end up grabbing at least one thing from every Target “Designer Collab” collection, and the Kirna Zabete Tweed/Faux Leather Dress was my pick from the recent Shops at Target collection that launched earlier this month. It is a cute dress–the tweedy fabric is really thick, super soft, and very swingy; and the faux leather trim looks believable enough to pass for the real thing.
The dress does run on the shorter side (for reference, I am 5’2″), so appropriate office wear it is not (although taller girls might just be able to pull it off as a tunic, if paired with leggings or skinny pants). And while the fabric that the dress is made of looks and feels great, it is a looser-knit tweed–so wearers should be careful to avoid pairing it with items that may cause snags. I haven’t noticed any snags on my own dress yet, but I have only worn it once so far. The good news is that since the tweed is a little nubby by nature, snags should be able to (mostly) blend back in after trimming up with a skinny pair of scissors.
Flaws aside, I still love the dress. I always feel a little weird in shift dresses, so I originally had the grand idea to throw a belt around the middle to give it some shape…
…but I ultimately decided that the dress had a cute shape of its own, so sans belt it was. Hope you have a great weekend, you guys!
