Outfit Of The Last Week: Light Gray + Peach + J Crew’s Yellow Textured-Stripe Shorts
♫: Don’t Swallow The Cap – The National
Whoa, long time no talk again. My apologies! I have lots of photos of outfits currently in my queue for editing, but I can’t lie–it has been hard to find time at the computer when it is finally so nice and pretty outside. Husband and I have also started to work again on our never-ending remodel, with a goal to take our staircase from this:
{in other words: a rustic professional ice cream maker holder}
To this:
{we are nothing if not overachievers – via pinterest}
Except we are currently working on the main floor and master bathrooms right now, and Husband claims that we don’t have time to sit around discussing that hideous real-life-forest-photo wallpaper that existed in the 80’s focusing has really never been my forte, squirrel). You can follow my lack of forest focus on Pinterest and Instagram, and I will definitely be updating with more pictures here as well–once we really get back into it.
In the meanwhile, let’s get back to the fashion. I wore the outfit below to a fun little BBQ last Friday night. My husband finally (finally!) finished his youth basketball season, and so we had a celebration with the team parents & kids for award giving, speech giving, and general gabbing & goofing around. Husband began coaching a brand new group of kids this past fall, so we are all still getting to know one another–and there’s no better way to do it than with glasses of good wine, cups of syrupy snowcones for the kids, and tasty BBQ. So much better than bonding over numb-bleacher-butts, eh?
So I went a little more casual with my outfit. I only grabbed two things from J Crew’s most recent update of new arrivals; one of the items being the Textured-Stripe Shorts that I am wearing in my outfit below, and I really, really like them. They are made out of a dobby fabric, which means they are a lot more substantial than regular cotton shorts–similar to a polo t-shirt in texture, only thicker. In my opinion, they fit a bit big–I had to go down one size from my usual J Crew size. They also have a higher rise (which I love!) and the inseam feels a touch longer than 3″. If J Crew made them in other colors, I would definitely grab more. Get on it J Crew! Chop chop.
Hope you guys are having a good summer so far! More updates here soon, I promise.
